Biology
Dorsal spines (total): 14; Dorsal soft rays (total): 17; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 17 - 18. Closely resembles C. bispinosus. It lacks the series of narrow vertical bars in C. bispinosus and has numerous irregularly-shaped black dots instead. Overall color is golden brown to orange, becoming bright orange ventrally. Some with bluish narrow band or spots along the margin of the dorsal and anal fins.
