Dorsal spines (total): 1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 60-63; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 49 - 53; Vertebrae: 64 - 68. Opercle with a dark ocellated spot. Gill membranes fused to the isthmus. No posterior otic sensory pore; preopercular pores 7; one posterior interorbital pore. Scaled cheek; variable number of scales dorsally on opercle. A short dark bar running posteroventrally from eye to opercular ocellus. Spots arranged in 5-6 irregular rows.
