Dorsal spines (total): 14; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-17; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 17 - 18. Deep bodied. Overall color is red-orange with numerous narrow, vertical, irregular golden lines on the sides. A thin dark line ring the eye. Several dark olive submarginal ones on the median fins.
