Biology
Dorsal spines (total): 7 - 8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 19-21; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 17 - 19. 6-8 double series of dusky blotches above and below lateral line; distal 1/2 of dorsal lobe abruptly and heavily pigmented (Ref. 3197). Scutes absent, has several semi-detached finlets at the end of dorsal and anal fins, and is covered with tiny needle-like scales imbedded in a tough skin (Ref. 37816).
