Indo-Pacific. Recent authors have regarded Kaupichthys hyoproroides (Str?mman), described from the Atlantic, as a circumtropical species; however, Kenneth A. Tighe, who is revising family Chlopsidae, will recognize the Indo-Pacific Kaupichthys diodontus as distinct from Kaupichthys hyoproroides (Ref. 10685).
