Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-18; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 16 - 27. Body slender. Scutes strongly keeled, beginning under pectoral fin base, 10 + 10 or 11. Snout rather acute. Lower jaw slightly projecting, with small teeth; pre-maxillae with a single row of small teeth; maxilla slender, its blade a little over 3 times as long as deep, upper edge slightly ridged; second supra-maxilla slender, spatulate, with distinct anterior shaft.
