Biology
Adults occur in the highly oxygenated water layer close to the shoreline and pounded by the surf. Solitary and to some extent, territorial. Feed on algae and aufwuchs on rocks (Ref. 6770). Both parents brood their young in the mouth (Ref. 86760).
