Biology
Dorsal spines (total): 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 6 - 8. Rugose genital papillae in both sexes. No IT pores; POP pores absent or greatly reduced. 4 - 6 large spots on ventral midline posteriorly from anal fin origin; subcutaneous bars associated with some ventral-midline spots. Fifth pelvic fin ray small, unbranched, about 1/10 length of 4th ray (usually poorly ossified). Anterior-most branch of 4th pelvic ray elongate, at least 10 segments. Dorsal spines in D1 not prolonged as filaments. 9 - 17 pectoral fin rays may be branched (Ref. 38034).
