Dorsal spines (total): 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 6-7; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 6. Body moderately elongated. Rounded head. Large mouth. Eyes on the upper part of the head. First dorsal with 6 spines, the second with 1 spine and 6 to 7 soft rays. Pectorals with 18 to 19 rays. Anal fin with 1 spine and 6 soft rays. 10 to 11 predorsal cteno?d scales. The posterior part of the mouth goes behind the eye for males, but stops under the middle of it for females. Opercle and body with scales, cheek without. Base of pectorals and pelvics with cyclo?d scales. Global coloration light beige with an irregular pattern of red-brownish spots on both head and body. Larger brown spots (4 to 5) along the longitudinal serie and at the base of the caudal (2). One black stripe from 1st dorsal to belly and a second from eye to base of the opercle. Black eyes.
