Biology
Inhabits around grassy tussocks and weeds in small spring-fed pools with a depth of only a few centimeters in very dry, open country. The pools are exposed to full sun for most of the day and air temperatures reach 51?C in summer and fall as low as 3?C in winter. The fish and its limited habitat are now protected (Ref. 44894).
