Dorsal spines (total): 11 - 13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-11; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 4 - 6. Second preopercular spine much shorter than first or third, or lacking. Pectoral rays 21-23. Interorbital width 8-12 % SL, greater than in S. guentheri (Ref. 11015).
