Inhabits rocky riffles and runs of clear small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723, 10294); also found in moderate-sized creeks. Feeds on periphyton and aquatic insect larvae dominated by dipterans (midges and blackflies) and mayflies (Baetidae and Potamanthus) (Ref. 10294).
